Things that didn’t work for us
- Adding medicine to milk: Kid grew averse to milk bottles, which is worse. Syringe feed the medicine.
- Stubbornly wanting to teach a lesson while the kids are crying: As much as I want to teach my kids (2-3) a lesson (eg don’t throw a towel on the floor), they can’t listen when they are crying and highly emotional. An alternative is to show them what to do if they are at that point not in the best state to do it and explain that I’m helping him this time and he will do it next time.
- Bribing to get compliance: This often increases the friction next because they learn they can negotiate.
